Captain Fracasse

In the desolate Landes of southwestern France during the reign of Louis XIII, the impoverished Baron de Sigognac lives in near-total isolation in his crumbling ancestral château, attended only by an old servant, a faithful dog, and a cat. His solitary existence is shattered when a traveling theatrical troupe, seeking shelter from a violent storm, arrives at his door. Captivated by the beautiful actress Isabelle, the baron decides to join the company, adopting the swashbuckling persona of Captain Fracasse. His new life leads him through a series of adventures, including encounters with brigands, duels, and the intrigues of the Duke of Vallombreuse, as he navigates a world far removed from his former solitude.
