CERRADO

A collection of photographs portraying the artist’s personal view of the Cerrado biome. It shows the Cerrado’s various landscapes, vegetation and animals. The  Brazilian Savanna, mostly known as Cerrado, is the second greatest biome in South America, extending over 2 million km2, roughly 22% of Brazil’s territory. This biome is known as the richest savanna in the world, when it comes to biodiversity. It is composed by several different habitats and landscapes, housing approximately 11.000 plant and 2.300 vertebrate native species. Somewhere around 60% of the original area has already been lost and according to recent statistics, 2 million more hectares per year are being turned into farmland. Currently, less than 10% of it’s remaining area is under some kind environmental protection.
