Publisher Description
Freaks is a play set on one Saturday in 1985 when a group of young goths and punks gear up for a night out on the town. Against a background of Thatcher’s Britain, when youth unemployment is running rife, the alternative culture friends discuss their hopes and aspirations and a future that looks bleak in a society that doesn’t take kindly to outsiders like them. Part fiction, part autobiography, Freaks is based on the author’s personal experiences and memories of growing up as a teenager for whom punk, alternative and indie music and fashion was less of a statement than a way of life.
