Know To Deal With A Narcissist: Understanding The Narcissist

While everyone may show occasional narcissistic behavior, true narcissists frequently disregard others or their feelings. They also do not understand the effect that their behavior has on other people. The most riveting portions of the book, if you are getting out of a relationship with a narcissist, are the first-person stories. Reading those reinforces the idea that you are not alone, that you are not crazy, and that those feelings you had that something wasn’t right were valid and genuine. The writing assignments too are good, practical recovery assignments. The final two chapters about healing and moving on don’t hold up as well. Choosing happiness, yes, that makes sense. Being honest with yourself, check. But the idea that developing a sense of the present, of living in the “now,” will inevitably lead to inner peace - well, I’m not sure that follows.
