Miranda’s Manhattan: Spend a Week with Me

This guide began as a list that I made for an out-of-town friend who was planning to come to New York for a few days. I love New York, and I wanted my friend to love it as much as I love it, so my list was my way of showing her what my New York — specifically my Manhattan — is like. I listed my favorite places, restaurants, cocktail lounges, museums, theaters, clubs, buildings, and public spaces. She and I used my list together, and it worked. She had a great time, and so did I. When another out-of-towner announced a visit, I pulled out the list, updated it, expanded it, and put it to work again. That cycle of updating and expanding went on for some time, until my list became this book. I offer it to you now, just as I would if you were a friend of mine planning a trip to New York. This is how you and I would spend a week together. This is the way I would make you love New York.
