Sissy thought her ghost-hunting days were over after the Halloween party disaster. She'd even hidden away her grandmother's mysterious hairpin—the one that lets her see ghosts—and she is now just trying to survive eighth grade. But when strange things start happening at Calderon Middle School, Sissy realizes some mysteries refuse to stay buried.

When her friend Marlow gets grabbed by an invisible force during the big playoff game, Sissy knows she's the only one who can discover the cause. Armed with her mystical hairpin and joined by her loyal friends—band dork Marlow and goth paranormal enthusiast Albany—Sissy must face her fears and to discover the truth of the school's spirit.
