The Traveler's Companion

It's the summer of 1985 and Mark Dearborn, just out of college and not quite out of the closet, leaves his stuffy New England family and takes off across Europe with his much more freewheeling friend Lint. They go to London, Amsterdam, and Paris where they meet Ricka Stein, a needy and erratic American girl, and her dour friend Phillip. Philip invites them to stay with him in Venice, and as the friends linger in the city, Mark finds himself torn between a sexy older American and a moody young Italian, until a disastrous side trip to Rome rearranges everything.
