After School Club

The first book in a hilarious, contemporary middle grade series for 8-10 year olds, by CBBC presenter Joe Tasker.

Meet Joe. Thanks to a recent move to a brand-new school, and a very determined mum, he’s been enrolled in After School Club to help him ‘make friends.’ Like he needs any help doing that!?

Ever the opportunist though, Joe sees this as his moment. A fresh start. A chance to reinvent himself as the cool, confident, extremely popular kid he was always destined to be. So, on his first day, he walks into ASC like the king of the castle…only to be immediately humbled. Because there’s only one other kid there and everyone knows you need more than one (admittedly weird) friend to rule the school.

Still, Rome wasn’t built in a day.

In this first book, we follow Joe as he attempts (and fails…a lot) to find his place at school and turn After School Club into his own personal kingdom, adoring subjects and all! But along the way, he learns a few important lessons…including humility.
