Autobiography in Psychoanalysis

Autobiography in Psychoanalysis explores the intersection of personal narrative and clinical practice, following Wilfred Bion's revolutionary approach to conveying psychoanalytic concepts through autobiographical writing.

In this innovative work, Anne Lise Scappaticci combines twenty years of clinical experience with theoretical insights, offering readers a unique blend of personal reflection and professional practice. Through detailed clinical vignettes, autobiographical narratives and an exploration of Bion's methodological writings, the book demonstrates how the analyst's inner world becomes integral to therapeutic work. Readers will gain fresh perspectives on the relational aspects of psychoanalysis, understanding how the clinical meets the personal in contemporary practice, whilst developing their theoretical and clinical skills through the author's integration of life and work.

This book is essential reading for psychoanalysts, psychologists and mental health professionals seeking to deepen their understanding of the autobiographical dimensions of clinical work and those interested in Bion's theoretical contributions.
