Before Mavis, there was Ada — and the springs chose her first.

In 1949, twelve-year-old Ada Leigh feels drawn to the Florida springs, where a mysterious shadow utters the word "remember." She saves a drowning boy, Jonah Pike, who also heard the voice. Later, her mother reveals the springs choose one woman per generation to carry a legacy.
