The purpose of this course is to provide nurses with strategies to support the soft skills needed to provide optimal patient care and enhance professionalism in health care. In addition, members of the public may use this course to enhance their personal knowledge of the subject matter presented.


Upon completion of this course, you should be able to:


1. Define soft skills.

2. Provide examples of soft skills.

3. Describe how proper communication enhances safe patient care, interprofessional collaboration, and nursing education.

4. Analyze barriers to proper communication and how to overcome them.
