Daisy Miller is a story about the sophisticated Winterbourne who's interested in a beautiful American girl who may or may not be interested in him. He is so charmed and pleased by her spontaneity and gaiety that he is willing to overlook everything else. Furthermore, he is convinced she is acting with perfect innocence. Henry James created a deceptively simple tale that, for once in our lives, causes us to rethink what we know without obnoxiously proposing to teach us something.
