PROCEEDINGS. - Butterfield was convicted of rape. On direct appeal, defense counsel argued only that Butterfield had been denied a public trial. He then petitioned for based on ineffective appellate counsel, but his motion was denied with a finding that counsel had decided not to raise frivolous issues. Butterfield appealed.
