Defending Innocence

Vera will be a lawyer. Nothing will stop her. Not even the fact that she's from sleepy old Edenville, North 

Carolina, or the fact that her single father's small business hardly keeps them fed. A lifetime of hard work and perseverance has propelled her to the destiny she's dreamed of. An internship with Edenville's top lawyer, Michael Cooper, might not be glamorous, but staying in the city for the summer wasn't an option. Like always, she'll turn lemons into lemonade. That's easier said than done when Jay shows up to steal her thunder. 


Jay has a one-track mind. He's driven to succeed, not out of pride, but desperation. Justice is all he has in mind when he fights his way through law school. Falling for hot-headed Vera is a distraction he can't afford. 


When the two collide, seemingly on similar paths, they realize they have nothing in common but their chosen professional goals. When a cut and dry conviction becomes their summer project, Jay and Vera need each other if they plan to win. Even more if they want to stay alive.
