Years of guilt, anger, and envy cannot be stifled any longer. The past is coming back to haunt more than a few members of the prison staff. The sudden changes brought about by the audit and the looming threat of the board's involvement keep tensions high. However, it is the mundane task of prison duties that will cause the downfall of these poor souls. 

Following the death of the wizards, everyone is eager to get back to normal. However, between the audit and the changes slated for the new tenant, it proves to be difficult. 

When Cori discovers that her rings are no longer working, her efforts to maintain her independence only serve to put her in the crosshairs of Danato and Ethan. But it seems that she isn't the only one keeping a secret. In an effort to finally uncover the truth about Ethan's time in China, Danato discovers more than he bargained for. 

With Daniel in prison, Heaton teams up with Gypsy to help keep the peace with the Council of the Moon's new matriarch. Unfortunately, Nevia's erratic werewolf hormones nearly get them all killed. If Heaton can't find a way to help her, he will lose yet another partner.
