Endocrine Glands

The Veterinary Microscopic Anatomy Review series is a 21-volume set of interactive iBooks to allow a Q&A type review of microscopic anatomy structure and function. The histological sections are taken from multiple domestic species, including the canine, feline, bovine and equine.

In this unit of the series, the pituitary gland, pineal gland, thyroid gland, parafollicular cells, parathyroid gland, adrenal gland, and the endocrine portion of the pancreas are examined. The hormones secreted from the various endocrine cells and the actions of these hormones are reviewed. Multiple of these hormones, primarily from the pituitary gland, will be encountered again in the units on the urogenital organs.
