Five Minutes Past Midnight

A corporate spin doctor is trapped between the competing interests of the oil lobbyist father she's always wanted to impress and the desperate climate activists holding her boyfriend hostage as they attempt to draw attention to big oil's destruction of their small Alaska town. 

Karen King is a nepo baby who is also exceptionally good at her job spinning new truths at her father's lobbying firm. While at a conference with their big oil client, people associated with both companies are kidnapped, including Karen's boyfriend, Johnny. Karen wants to cooperate with police, but both her client and her father have stolen evidence. Karen is trapped between playing the role her father gave her and saving Johnny. She decides to play both sides, gambling with her career and Johnny's life on the chance she's smart enough to come out on top.
