Grace wants to share her house with a new friend, and a cat sounds like the perfect companion. When Mittens extends a paw to her through the bars of his cage at the animal shelter, she thinks she's found the perfect pet… at least until Mittens transforms into a very human man named Emric under the light of a full moon. 

A sorcerer who was cursed by a member of his former coven, Emric has been guarding an ancient, dangerous grimoire that has been in his family for generations. Enraged that Emric wouldn't turn it over to her, she's still out there, looking for him and the spellbook.

Emric and Grace are drawn to each other with a magnetic force that surprises both of them. But there's a matter of the grimoire that has to be tracked down and destroyed before they can act on that attraction. After all, cats might have nine lives, but the mere mortals who serve them don't.
