The Killing Dixie volume collection is a chronological, day-to-day account of the activities of the Confederate States of America during the Civil War from its birth to its downfall. Not only is it a compilation of military campaigns and key battles on land and at sea, it is a comprehensive series that provides for the exploration of Confederate strategy, tactics and policy while serving as a time line journey through the lives of the nation’s leaders, soldiers and citizens during the war. Each volume covers different years of the life of the Confederacy during the Civil War.        

Volume I covers 1860 to 1861 

Volume II covers 1862 to 1863

Volume III covers 1864 to 1865 

  

The collection brings to life significant moments in the tragic experiment of the Confederate States of America coinciding with the 150th anniversary of the Civil War’s end. Each volume is organized into chapters corresponding to the months of the year with each day’s significant events being documented throughout the entire life of the Confederacy. The series is designed to be read from beginning to end or used as a reference guide for researching a particular date, campaign or time frame.

  

Though it only existed for four years, the Confederacy is a profound part of the history of the United States of America. From the Confederacy's inception in 1860 and 1861 to the conclusion of the American Civil War in 1865, a complete account of the Confederacy's key people, places, and events are covered. The collection begins with the year prior to secession to the pivotal event at Fort Sumter in 1861 where the Civil War begins to just beyond the end of the war after the Confederate surrender at Appomattox in 1865.
