"Lennie Lightwave's Guide to Fiber Optics" was created in the early days of fiber optics as a simple, easily understood introduction to this new technology being used in communications. Unlike the usual textbooks written about fiber optics, "Lennie" was written so anyone could understand what fiber optics was, how it was used in communications networks and how one got started working with it.

Lennie grew out of the famous "Fiber U" fiber optic training seminars given by Fotec, Inc. Over 60,000 printed copies of Lennie were given away before it became one of the earliest commercial web tutorials.
