This is an EPUB yet it's treated as closed source code
On the help website for Logic there's a link to download this book. Yet, it's not a direct link but a link to the Apple Books summary page that in turns launches Books on your device and in turn demands you to create an account to download this EPUB. Is the file itself protected? No. It's really an EPUB, which basically means it isn't. It's just Apple going out of their way insidiously trying to lock you in. I tried downloading it on a non-Apple device because that's the second screen I had available but Apple doesn't seem to think things through.
You know what can I use instead on any screen? Adobe Audition, I would rather have all my screen capable of displaying help and doing work at the same time than have artificial locks and using another edition tools would allow me that. Also would stop me from paying Apple to purchase future versions of Logic and probably Macs too since while they're not per se incompatible with "stuff", Apple makes their "stuff" incompatible with other stuff on purpose.
While the change of iBooks into Apple Books was substantial enough to get me into shaky ground with Apple's new business models, Catalina was the catalyst of me going into full rage against Apple. However, I still paid for Logic that's usable on my Macs still running older macOS and it was I came for help that I got a hefty reminder of why I'm not investing a single dollar more into this company.
