In this fast-paced thriller, Dylan (Deadly Proof) explores corruption through a story that blends white-collar crime with street violence. Prosecutor Sophie Dawson has just been promoted to the white-collar crime division and is working on a fraud case involving a top bank manager of Atlanta bank SIB, Glen Shelton. Although the case seems cut and dried, Sophie starts suspecting that SIB may have been involved in more than fraud. When her digging reveals a pattern of money laundering overseen by the bank, Sophie worries that she is involved too deeply in a case that important people in Atlanta politics don't want investigated. Then, after work one night, Sophie is the only witness to two murders committed by the brother of a local gang leader. After receiving threatening letters, Sophie hires bodyguard Cooper Knight to protect her from the gang during the homicide case. As Cooper fights to keep Sophie alive through shootings and physical attacks, the two get closer. Although faith elements rarely appear, they do inform the slow-burning romance in the backdrop of the action-packed trial. Despite the disjointed plot, multiple story lines, and numerous side characters, Dylan demonstrates her skill by keeping the story moving and tying everything together nicely in the end.
