Descripción editorial

Mirèio (Mireille), published in 1859, is a pastoral epic poem by Provençal poet Frédéric Mistral. Written in the Occitan language, the poem tells the tragic love story of Mireille, a young peasant girl, and Vincent, a poor basket maker, whose romance is thwarted by class prejudice. Rich in regional color, folklore, and lyrical beauty, Mirèio helped revive Provençal literature and won Mistral the Nobel Prize in 1904. The poem remains a cultural treasure of southern France and a poignant celebration of love and heritage.
