More Than a Promise

For as long as she can remember, MarianaMiller has wanted children. But even after decades of marriage, she and her husband Leroy have not been blessed with any little ones. At forty-two she has long since settled herself to the fact that she won't have any children of her own.
Then life takes an unexpected turn. Leroy falls ill and dies, just as Mariana finds out that she's pregnant. She's confused and heartbroken as she tries to figure out what she's going to do with her life now. How will she support herself and this sweet baby she has prayed so long for? She knows she'll need to put her trust in God. She'll manage somehow. She's got her good friends in the quilting circle and her husband's best friend and business partner, Reuben Weisel.
Reuben is more than willing to step up and help Mariana. Then when she is forced to go on bedrest, he does everything he can to help her pass the days until the baby is born.
After spending so much time together, Reuben confesses his love for Mariana. She has started to have feelings for Reuben as well, and when he proposes, of course, she tells him yes.
Then Mariana finds a letter that Leroy wrote to Reuben asking him to care for her after he dies, and Mariana realizes that Reuben's feelings aren't real, just part of a promise he had made to his best friend.
But Reuben really does love her, perhaps he always has. Now how can he prove his love for her is true and more than just a promise?
