Nineteen-year-old John is a nobody. He's a punk-rock, anarchist orphan living in a condemned Chicago apartment building.  He has no idea why he can generate heat with his hands or feel other people's heartbeats. Now a terrifying vigilante known as the Chameleon has locked him in a dark basement. To The Chameleon, John isn't just a punk; he is a weapon against a shadowy organization intent on using disasters to seize global control.

Meanwhile, former secret agents Phineas, Charlie and Pete—the old guard—are coming out of retirement. From the jungles of Tasmania to the streets of Chicago, they are racing to find an ancient knowledge before three super-charged villains can. The telepathic Void, the deadly Geisha, and the tech-savant Catalyst mean to use this power to bring the world to its knees.

As the timelines converge and society crumbles under the weight of engineered disasters, John must learn from the enigmatic Chameleon. He must master his new abilities, and avoid being caught by Chicago PD or killed by three psychotic outlaws all while trying to stop the apocalypse.
