Andrew and Sheila Michaels take early retirement - to 'live the dream' in Sunny Spain - until one day it turns into a nightmare, when they are involved in a freak accident. Andrew survives, but suffers appalling injuries, and at the same time becomes one of the richest people on the planet.
This is the story of his 'road to recovery', periodically interspersed with the backgrounds (mostly quite short) of key staff/acquaintances as they become involved in it. How he recovers physically, deals with the grief of losing his wife of 32 years, and how comes to terms with all that money – along with all the assassination and kidnap attempts, pirates, and shipwrecks that come with it, and don't forget the blonde reporter.
