Plant biochemist Eleanor Heiser is happiest when she’s working alone, especially after a relationship taught her that love comes with too many demands. A research trip to Peninsula State Park should be simple: locate a rare plant growing along Wisconsin’s Niagara Escarpment, document her findings, and get back to the work that has never let her down.

Then she meets Harrison Nelson, an IT specialist who escapes to the outdoors whenever life gets complicated. Harrison has returned to Door County carrying family obligations of his own. The last thing he needs is a stubborn scientist wandering off-trail—or the instant attraction that makes walking away from her harder than it should be.

But when Eleanor’s research files are compromised and someone takes a dangerous interest in where she’s been, Harrison realizes the data she collected may reveal far more than the location of a rare plant. Someone wants that information buried, and Eleanor with it.
