Saved by the Fae Commander

He's a vicious fae commander... and I'm his mate.

Years ago, a seer told me I was fated to a highborn fae named Gideon. Since then, I've tried to pretend the prophecy was a lie. As a full-blooded human, surely I'm not destined to belong to a powerful fae male. But the chill of winter has always felt like the sweetest caress, a promise that one day my mate would find me... no matter how hard I tried to stay hidden.

After the Winter Court army conquers my city, the strange sensation grows stronger. Sometimes, I hear his voice. Other times, I sense his presence as though he's standing right beside me.

Terrified of what will happen if he finds me, I flee the city with my father and head south. But it isn't long before I feel the highborn fae male again. Closing in. Hunting me. Somehow Gideon knows I ran... and he's coming for me.

When I'm chased by dangerous fae creatures in the wilderness, I think perhaps all is lost... until a massive, black-winged fae descends from the sky and saves me from certain death.
