Despite his best efforts, Gaul is alive. Adrift in his self-destructive trauma, he finds himself on an island that was once paradise, now frozen by a god in a corpse-like slumber. But peace isn't easy to come by, and the end of the world soon comes knocking. The path to undoing his mistake is soaked in blood, as he must find a way to return to Adathin.

Marta remains trapped on Boboros. She needs to escape Melifacto's clutches before continuing the hunt for the Primordials and the Light they carry. Once, she hoped to prevent the spreading Absence that heralded the return of the First Gods, but she discovers a new purpose for Light: to remove Isildia's soul before she takes total control.
