The Chief's Daughter

From the mega-bestselling author of Firekeeper's Daughter comes a gripping thriller about a Native teen whose father survives an assassination attempt—but wakes with no memory of her, spurring her to hunt down the shooter and uncover the corruption threatening her community.

When eighteen-year-old Deya joins a protest against the pipeline jeopardizing her Ojibwe Tribe's waterways, she never expects a gunman to open fire. A clipboard in Deya's backpack miraculously deflects the bullet meant for her, but her father, the Tribal Chief, is left fighting for his life. When he finally wakes up from a coma, Deya is overjoyed...until he reveals he has no memory of her.

With the only witness who might know the truth struck by amnesia, Deya takes the investigation into her own hands. As she searches for the would-be assassin—and tries to discover why she and her father were targeted—she uncovers secrets that reach far beyond a single act of violence. Someone is willing to kill to keep those secrets buried, and Deya must expose the truth before they come for her again...and before the corruption threatening her Tribe destroys not only its waters, but its very soul.
