Neonatologist Dr. Martin Connaughton is renowned for his devotion to his tiny patients. And he's also well-known for his irritation with hospital politics.

He finds himself–not for the first time–in conflict with the chief of surgery, who recommends an operation for Martin's newest patient. Martin disagrees–and refuses to back down, no matter how much prestige the operation might bring the hospital.
