Thomas finally has his first chance at a proper psychical investigation, evaluating the prowess of a popular traveling medium in the lovely resort town of Manitou Springs. With the help of the lovely Miss Charlotte Roseingrave, of course. But the harsh winter of 1887 has descended now, and things long thought lost are stirring in the Colorado mountains.

Soon, Thomas's simple inquiry turns into a murder investigation. As the bodies begin to pile up, he and Charlotte struggle to unmask an unseen evil. But when they themselves are targeted, their only hope for survival might come from an entirely unexpected source…
