The Iron Mother

The plan to kidnap a high-ranking Briling Dominion official, already a brazen gamble, has gone horribly wrong. Accused of murder, freelance pilot Chad "Gunny" Gunderson and former shadow operative Riyao Seryin have fled into the galaxy's underbelly to avoid certain death. The whispers of mutiny among the few comrades they have left are growing louder.

Low on money and time, Gunny and Seryin have one last option to clear their names: a dangerous mission to the edge of the known space to unlock a decades-old secret aboard an abandoned battleship. Besides a fresh crew crazy enough to come with them, they need a ship fast enough to brave the dreaded Graveyard debris field surrounding their target, from which only one man - Gunny's mentor - has ever returned.

The good news is there's a ship perfect for such a job. The bad news is that Gunny's old rival, an unscrupulously violent pirate, owns it. Worse is that their only shot at it is during a party put on by the galactic underworld's most feared ganglord. Suddenly, that suicide mission to the Graveyard doesn't seem so bad.
