The Man Who Planted Trees

In 1910, while trekking through a remote, wind-swept valley filled with wild lavender in Provence, a man encounters a shepherd named Elzéard Bouffier. He stays with Elzéard and observes him meticulously sorting and planting hundreds of acorns as he roams the wilderness. A decade later, after the war, the man revisits the shepherd and discovers the young forest that Elzéard has nurtured, slowly expanding across the valley. Elzéard’s solitary and silent labor continues, and the narrator returns each year to witness the miracle he is steadily crafting: a lush, green landscape that stands as a testament to one man's creative vision.
