The Matchmaker of Meryton

Elizabeth Bennet is on a mission - to find suitable husbands for her four sisters, having decided it entirely unlikely she will ever find a suitable partner of her own. Whilst she first fixes on the new tenant of Netherfield Park, a chance encounter at an assembly soon convinces her that Jane deserves altogether better than one Charles Bingley. When her father's cousin, William Collins, arrives unexpectedly in Meryton it seems as if Providence itself has offered an alternative, but will her sister (or Mr Collins!) agree?

Elizabeth Bennet may not have succeeded in finding her sister a husband, but she has at least managed an escape for Jane - and her - from Hertfordshire to Kent, and is convinced the countryside will work its magic. She finds a surprising ally in Mr Darcy, and in Anne de Bourgh, who has problems of her own to solve...

Elizabeth Bennet is so pleased with Jane's happy fate that she turns her mind swiftly to another - Anne de Bourgh - in hopes that securing Anne's future will leave her free to pursue her own. Yet the course of romance will not run smoothly - for her friends, or for herself, and when news of a scandal reaches her from Hertfordshire Lizzy must choose between another sister's happiness and her own.

Matchmaker of Meryton is a fun retelling of Jane Austen's classic Pride and Prejudice, originally published in three separate volumes.
