Heat isn't the only thing Marny Sanderson feels as she deplanes in Miami. An overwhelming sense of dread has her thinking she should turn around and go back home to New York . . .

Out of the blue, her boss, Tim Wales, president of Wales Airlines, suggested going on vacation, and now here they are at his house on Shadow Island in Biscayne Bay. Joining them are Tim's second wife Judith, his daughter Winnie, and André Durant, a handsome job-hunting guest of Judith's, along with a few other guests.

The surprises continue for Marny after she settles in. A swim in the secluded pool leads her into André's arms. Returning to her room, she finds Cecily, an armed, frightened woman claiming to be André's wife. Thinking Andre is running off with Marny, Cecily threatens her and disappears. A short while later, Marny finds Cecily shot dead outside.

Soon the only witness comes forward, claiming the murderer was a woman in a white dress…but Marny is the only woman on the island in a white dress. Now she must prove her innocence before her spoiled vacation ends with a killer's getaway . . .
