Through the Door

Aya was always good at calming people, but exposure to the dust of the asteroid has turned it into a measurable skill. Identified as a soother who can calm the most violent of impulses, she takes a position on a station and uses her psychic skills to calm lust and rage, making for safer warships.

At first, life in space was exciting, but then she learned she was not being allowed out into the station. She had no window. She couldn't see the stars, and she was stuck in a room that was large enough for a comfortable bedroom but had no communications and no way out unless a client was coming to sit in the chair and have his lust eased into nothing with her psychic skills.

After years, she knew her time was short, so she taught herself to send a plea for help every time the door opened or closed. One day, time stopped, and help arrived.

Devran was astonishingly tall and calm, and he supported her through the station and to his shuttle. The weirdest part wasn't him; it was that everyone on the station was frozen in whatever action they had been doing when he came in. This is when she realized there were scarier things than Hmrain out there, and this one was taking her away.
