Booker T. Washington was a prominent leader of the African-American community in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.  Washington was born into slavery but would become a prolific author who wrote about extensively about his life experiences and the challenges facing African-Americans during his time.  This edition of Up from Slavery includes a table of contents.
