In this speculative fiction short story, Beatrice knows her struggling outpost is on the brink of collapse. None of the clones have heard from Primus Regina in weeks, and the colonists have slipped into despair.


Starvation threatens Beatrice’s closest friend, and she knows she must act. In a desperate attempt to avert death, Beatrice devises a bold plan for the colony’s salvation, but when deadly Reapers intercept her, all seems lost.


Will Beatrice be about to outwit the Reapers and find the key to her outpost’s survival? Or will she slip into the despair that has paralyzed everyone she loves?
