We Never Were Just Friends

They were best friends before they understood love. Now, after years apart, they're about to discover that some feelings never die.

Raina Ellis thought she'd left Port Camden, Georgia, and its painful memories behind for good. But when the woman who loved her like a daughter passes away, Raina returns home to face everything she once ran from—including Malik Carter, the one man she's never been able to forget.

Malik is a dedicated firefighter, a father figure to his troubled nephew, and a man who has spent years putting everyone else's needs before his own. He has loved Raina since they were teenagers, but pride, fear, and missed opportunities kept them apart.

Now, with Raina staying under his roof, the chemistry they've denied for years becomes impossible to ignore.

But love isn't their only challenge.

Raina's controlling ex-husband refuses to leave her past alone. Family secrets threaten Malik's hard-earned stability. And as old wounds reopen, Raina must decide whether she can build a future with the man she loves without losing the independence she's fought so hard to reclaim.

Between dangerous fires, family betrayals, buried secrets, and second chances, Raina and Malik must learn that real love isn't just about finding your way back to someone.

It's about choosing to stay.

We Never Were Just Friends is an emotional, passionate urban romance about lifelong friendship, heartbreak, family loyalty, healing, and a love that refuses to be forgotten.

Some friendships are only love stories waiting to be told.
