What It Means to Be Blessed

Everyday use has sanded the edges off the word blessing--we bless people who sneeze, we are #blessed, and we use blessed as a synonym for lucky. But what is a blessing, really? How should we understand this word that is used more than 500 times in the Bible?

In this book Ian Graham traces the idea of blessing throughout Scripture, diving deep into key moments and stories to help us understand that blessing is not simply good fortune or material gain but rather God's fundamental posture toward the world. Blessing is central to who God is and what he does.

Graham shows how God's desire to bless drives his redemptive story that finds its heart in the death and resurrection of Jesus. And as we encounter what blessing really means, we are invited to inhabit God's story of blessing and be agents of this blessing in the world.
