Ancient China Simplified
Publisher Description
There is much repetition in the book, the same facts being presented, for instance, under the heads of Army, Religion, Confucius, and Marriages. This is intentional, and the object is to keep in the mind impressions which in a strange, ancient, and obscure subject are apt to disappear after perusal of only one or two casual statements.

Ancient China Simplified
A Review
This ebook was not published well for the following reasons:-
- There was no list and title of chapters with the page numbers.
- On page 5 Aids to Memory, it was stated that nine maps were inserted. However, the "maps" were not drawings but written wordy descriptions of the places which required a lot of imagination on the part of the reader.
- Long bulky paragraphs which could have been shortened to shorter paragraphs to aid reading.
- Legends could have been added to provide further explanation. The 3 volumes of The Three Kingdoms were excellent in this reading aid.
- On page 10, List of Illustrations, the 3 items were described in words: no photo of the tripod, portrait or map were presented. Pages 81 and 82 were mentioned, but the items couldn't be located in the said pages.
- On page 11, a List of Maps was given but they were descriptions of the places. Obviously, the publisher wasn't aware of the adage "A picture is worth a thousand words".
Since too much imagination would be required to complete the book, I decided to stop reading at page 51 of this book of 600 pages.
