Churchwardens' Manual
Publisher Description
This manual serves to familiarize new churchwardens and lay leaders with their roles and responsibilities, and also serves as a reference source to experienced churchwardens and incumbents. It was obviously written long before the era of Health and Safety, Fire Risk Assessments etc., but it does demonstrate that even in the 19th century Churchwardens still had many problems to deal with. Its main interest now is to give the reader an historical perspective on the role, but some of the advice given still applies today. For example, how to work together with a new incumbent could have been written yesterday.
