Descripción editorial
Reclusive forensic artist Macy Sheridan agrees to work one final case she hopes will solve the mystery that's haunted her for years. The only things blocking her from achieving her goal are a perfect facial reconstruction and Detective Leigh Monroe, a woman who reminds her of the past and challenges her future.
Leigh Monroe has lost her lover, her livelihood, and her home, but she chooses to look on the bright side. What else could go wrong? Then she meets rude, solitary Macy Sheridan. But Leigh discovers that Macy's façade is a mask, yet as real and untouchable as the forensic reconstructions she so meticulously creates.
PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
Two women tap-dance around one another's emotions in Powell's latest romantic drama. Former forensic artist Macy Sheridan has spent the past 16 years obsessing over her best friend's disappearance. She reluctantly accepts one last job, hoping that the case might provide her with the answers she seeks. Meanwhile, she rents part of her property to Leigh Monroe, a police detective suspended for bending the rules to do the right thing. Sparks fly and personalities clash, and, as the two wounded souls ease into a wary relationship, they wrestle with their respective issues. What Macy doesn't know is that Leigh has unofficially reopened a cold case that could affect them both and destroy any chance at a lasting relationship. While the level of coincidence requires some suspension of disbelief, Powell (Exit Wounds) excels at depicting complex, emotionally vulnerable characters who connect in a believable fashion and enjoy some genuinely hot erotic moments.
