I, John Newton, have a message of hope. If the Lord can save a wretch like me, he can save anyone. Without sparing myself, I shall relate the story of my life – sinful seaman, slave ship captain, customs official, vicar and preacher – illustrated by six of my hymns and four extracts from my writings.
