Descripción editorial

It's 1961. Cuba undertakes a massive literacy campaign to bring basic reading and writing skills to one million illiterate Cuban adults. The goal: make Cuba "A Territory Free of Illiteracy", and do it before the year is out. The only way to do this: with 250,000 volunteer teachers, 100,000 of whom were the youth brigade. Our story follows Anita Fonseca, 14-years-old, who overcomes her parent's objections, and joins the youth brigade, sent to teach wherever illiterate "students" live. On assignment with a family in Cuba's rustic countryside, Anita must adapt to difficult living conditions, and overcome many challenges while teaching. Based on historical elements, Anita's Revolution is both the inspiring story of the power of youth whose enthusiasm and bravery helped change the course of Cuba's history, and a rite of passage for Anita and all the youth who participated in the campaign.
