This is the true story of a boy who in early childhood lived a blissful life within a family who has everything. Then due to tragic circumstances they fell on hard times. At first there seemed no way out but he found a way out.

After confronting a hard case bully who was older and bigger; aged fifteen, he beat him in a vicious street fight and gained the respect of all the local kids. He became a gang leader at just twelve years of age. On a routine basis, together with his childhood gang, he did what he had to do to provide food to put on the family’s table.

Eventually; at the age of fourteen, he meets his mentor; a woman in her thirties, and a relationship developed between them. She groomed him and taught him all she knew about the underhand ways she knew to make money. With his baby face and dressed as an office boy in a blazer, shirt and tie she teaches him how to relieve high class jewellers of their expensive diamond rings...from right under their noses. These were well planned out scenes which displayed real classic cases that were highly rewarding and would put a professional criminal to shame. He progresses in his new way of life and finds it very lucrative.

He became one of the richest poor teenagers in Liverpool, but going down that road led to his undoing. In 1955; aged fifteen, he gets arrested by the police and is subsequently sent to a remand home where he witnesses abuse of young boys who were subjected to vile, obscene acts by some of the cruel house masters who ran the home.

He suffered the loss of two good friends who both died a horrible death as they tried to escape the abuse from within another one of these homes.

This is the true story of a childhood delinquent and his young gang growing up in the early 1950’s. ‘Bad Boys Don’t Cry’ is a brilliant combination of narrative writing, memoir and biography.

The book also contains nostalgic archive photographs.
