She meets Zach through her friend, Aunty Cal. Zach comes to practice law in Ony Springs after he is shot on the steps of a California courthouse.


Ann and Zach fall in love. Ann cannot ever reveal who she really is to Zach or anyone. They build their relationship together. After Zach’s dad dies, he takes time away from seeing Ann. Ann struggles, knowing Zach is who she wants in her life. She moves on as she has to. With time Zach’s grief loosens its hold. Ann and Zach renew their relationship and pledge to join their lives together.
