The aging process is a natural part of life that everyone undergoes. It is a process of change. Dementia is the loss of intellectual abilities (such as thinking, remembering, and reasoning) of sufficient severity to interfere with a person's daily functioning.1 The most common form of dementia is Alzheimer's disease. Alzheimer's disease is a progressive, degenerative disorder that affects tissues in the brain, eventually resulting in abnormal brain function.
