Faces and Places of Paris

Descripción editorial

This is a collection of impromptu “street photos” taken as I walked the streets of this most photogenic of cities.

My Parisian friend Jean-François (Jeff) Labrouche, who is a world class photographer himself, said, “So many people smile for you. This is unusual. I wish I could get such a response”. Jeff suggested I should publish my photos under the title of “Faces and Places, Paris” and here it is.

The photo of the naked woman posed in front to the Manet painting in the Musée d’Orsay is typical of my experiences. She entered from the staff door like it was a curtain to a stage, walking confidently through the dozens of visitors showing no embarrassment. When she posed, the similarities of her figure and her hairdo to the woman in the Manet painting were striking. She left just as she had come.

In Jardin des Tuileries near the Louvre, a young man’s girlfriend was photographing him fondling the Maillot sculptures. I asked to join in, “Mais oui!” she said, and so i caught the reason why so many of Paris’ sculpture so dark smudges on their privates.

Perhaps these photos will recall your special time in Paris or encourage you to make a visit.
